The ABA Journal reports that Wm. T. "Bill" Robinson III of Florence, Ky. can be penciled into the lineup for president.
That result became virtually a sure thing when H. William Allen of Little Rock, Ark., withdrew from the race. Robinson confirmed Sunday that he now is running unopposed.
Robinson's remarks came during a candidates forum conducted by the ABA nominating committee. The committee will confirm its selection of Robinson in February at the ABA’s 2010 midyear meeting in Orlando, Fla. He will then be formally elected by the House of Delegates next August during the annual meeting in San Francisco. He will serve as president-elect until becoming president in August 2011 at the annual meeting in Toronto.
Robinson is member-in-charge of the northern Kentucky offices of Frost Brown Todd. He served as ABA treasurer in 2005-08, and he is a past president of the Kentucky Bar Association. Among his current responsibilities, Robinson chairs the Standing Committee on Governmental Affairs, which oversees the association’s policy advocacy efforts on Capitol Hill.
