An emergency room nurse is filing a lawsuit, after she was arrested fornot giving a blood test from someone who had been in a car accident.
Lisa Hofstra, a registered nurse at Advocate Illinois Masonic MedicalCenter, claimed in the lawsuit that a Chicago Police officer onlyindentified by the surname Rodriguez ordered her to take blood for adrunken driving test for someone that had been in a car accident.
Hofstra said the subject had to become a patient at the hospital firstand asked to consult a supervisor. But instead, the officer arrestedher, a news release on the lawsuit said.
She was placed in a police car and taken away, leaving nobody in chargeof the emergency room, the lawsuit said. The officer said Hofstra wouldonly be released after the DUI suspect was given the blood test, thelawsuit said.
